هل تعلم أن هناك صندوقاً فريداً من نوعه يحتوي على ريش طائر نادر في متحف المتروبوليتان ؟ هذا الصندوق هو تمثال لصقر صغير مطلي بالذهب يقف على صندوق خشبي مزخرف بنقوش رائعة. وقد اكتشف هذا الصندوق في مدينة أسيوط عام 1912م بعد أن ظل مخبأً لأكثر من ألفي عام. ويعود تاريخ صنعه إلى العصر البطلمي (332-30 قبل الميلاد) الذي شهد ازدهاراً فنياً وثقافياً في مصر. والأكثر إثارة للاهتمام هو أن الصندوق يحتوي على صرة من الكتان ملفوفة بإحكام تضم ريش طائر الأبعاد، وهو طائر أسطوري يرمز إلى الخلود في الميثولوجيا المصرية. وتبلغ أبعاد هذا الصندوق الثمين 58.5 × 24.9 × 33.3 سم.
Gold and feathers box. An Egyptian treasure that tells the story of immortality
Did you know that there is a unique box containing rare bird feathers in the Metropolitan Museum? This box is a statue of a small gold-plated falcon standing on a wooden box decorated with magnificent carvings. This box was discovered in the city of Assiut in 1912 after it remained hidden for more than two thousand years. Its creation dates back to the Ptolemaic period (332-30 BC), which witnessed an artistic and cultural boom in Egypt. Even more interestingly, the box contains a tightly wrapped linen hub that houses the feathers of the dimensional bird, a mythical bird that symbolizes immortality in Egyptian mythology. The dimensions of this precious box are 58.5× 24.9 × 33.3 cm.
